What Jimmy Kimmel being taken off air means for free speech in the US

ABC said that the TV host Jimmy Kimmel was withdrawn from the air indefinitely after comments he made about shooting Charlie Kerk.

The decision came hours after Brendan Car, the head of the broadcast organizer, the Federal Communications Committee (FCC), that Jimmy Kimmel “seems to be misleading the American public.”

Both Democrats describe Kimmil’s suspension of an attack on freedom of expression and “abuse of power”, while US President Donald Trump welcomed “great news to America”.

The BBC Ross Attins analysis editor examines the role of the Federal Communications Committee (FCC) and Trump in the decision to suspend the offer.
