Mogadisho, a BBC, told a Ugandan military helicopter with eight people on board crashing at the main international airport in the Somalia capital, Mogadisho, the BBC flying official said.
The state -run news agency reported that a fire broke out after a helicopter crashed at Aden AD International Airport, but it was quickly contained by emergency services. Video shots showed smoke columns rising from the airport.
“We heard the explosion, we saw smoke and blowing over a helicopter,” Farah Abdoul, one of the airport employees, told Reuters.
The cause of disruption and losses is unclear.
The head of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, Ahmed Malim, told the BBC that the helicopter had landed in the airport’s military section after flying from an air base in the Label in the Lower Shabel area.
He said that the investigation was underway to prove the cause of the accident.
The Ugandan forces are part of the power of the African Union (AU) to help the government fight the youth group linked to a base, which was waging a brutal rebellion in Somalia.
