Two Israelis questioned after attending Belgium’s Tomorrowland festival

Belgian police say they interrogated two Israelis after two supporters of the Palestinians claimed that they were waving flags from the army brigade at the Tomorowland Autism Festival.

Prosecutors said that men were briefly detained after an interview with them.

Hind Rajab and the Global Legal Procedure Network said it had submitted a complaint after a group of young Israelis were seen flying the purple and white flag in the Gevati Brigade, who claimed that the couple committed war crimes in Gaza.

Gevati’s flag was among many Israeli flags that were thrown during an Israeli Dio Viennie Vecy group last Friday.

Prosecutors said that there will be no more details about the case at this stage. Hind Rajab described the arrest of the Israelis as “an important step forward.”

They are not believed to be prevented from leaving Belgium.

BBC contacted the Israeli embassy in Brussels, which refused to comment other than asserting that the two men were released.

Before the couple was detained, prosecutors said they decided to investigate allegations under the Global Judicial Judicial Law in Belgium, which allows local courts to hear cases related to the alleged crimes committed outside Belgium.

Last year’s law was updated to enable the Belgian police to collect evidence of violations.

The European Jewish Association said in a statement that it “is deeply concerned” through the behavior of the Belgian authorities towards the Israelis.

EJA said: “These soldiers were doing their legal duties in defending their country, which are similar duties for any soldier serving in a democratic state.”

Hind Rajab Dyab Abou Jahjah, a Belgian and Bani controversial activist who admitted to joining the Lebanese group Hezbollah when he was young. Hezbollah’s military wing is blocked as a terrorist group in the European Union.

The Tomorrowland Festival this year advanced last week, although the fire destroyed the main stage 48 hours before the event started.

Tens of thousands flocked to the festival in a breakthrough, near Antwerp, to hear works, including David Jetta and the lost frequencies.
