Twenty -three people were killed in a Russian air strike on a village in eastern Ukraine, according to a local official.
President Folodimer Zelinski said the victims were ordinary people who collected their pensions in the Donetsk settlement in Yarova. Donetsk regional leader Vadim Villachkin said that emergency services were at the scene and that many people were killed.
Yarova to the north of Slovinsk, one of the major cities in the region, and not far from the confrontation line as Russian forces advanced slowly in the east.
If confirmed, the death toll will be among the heavily attacks on Ukrainian civilians in recent weeks, and 42 months in the full invasion of Russia.
