Two men and one woman were killed by sea mines while swimming in Odessa, according to the Ukrainian media.
A local official confirmed that the three had been killed by “explosive devices”, on the beaches near Zatoka, where recreational swimming is banned.
The Black Sea has always been a famous holiday destination in Ukraine, but many of its beaches have been considered unsafe since Russia has been widely invaded.
Officials urged holidays to not swim in the banned water.
Witnesses of the local outlet Domskaya told that the explosions occurred at 11:30 (09:30 GMT) on Sunday between Carolino Boutep and Zatoka.
The regional ruler, Ole Kiber, confirmed: “All of them were killed by explosive devices while swimming in the banned areas of entertainment.”
“This proves again that the presence in the unrestricted water is dangerous in a fatal way.”
Police say they have not yet confirmed the identity of the swimmers, and they warned against visitors “not to neglect safety measures.”
“This was previously determined that three vacationers – a woman and two men – died while swimming as a result of two explosions of unknown things. The identities of the deceased were created,” says the police report.
Thirty -three safe areas for swimming, with 30 of this area in Odessa, according to the authorities.
