Manchester City striker Erling Haaland said scoring goals is his job after becoming the fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals in stunning fashion. 5-4 win over Fulham.
Haaland scored the winner in the opening match at Craven Cottage Reaching three-digit milestones In his 111th appearance in the English Premier League.
Alan Shearer held the previous record by scoring 100 goals in 124 matches. Haaland now has 144 goals for the club since joining in 2022 but believes he should score more.
He told Sky Sports: “It’s a proud moment. “The 100 Club is a huge thing. Doing it so quickly is amazing. I’m proud, I’m happy.
“I’ve said it many times – a City striker has to score a lot of goals. That’s my job, that’s what I try to do. And I’m not bad at it!”
“I should have scored a hat-trick. I had some chances. I need to practice.”
Haaland hit the post twice in a crazy game and when asked if he had another 100 he simply replied: “Why not?”
Shearer remains the Premier League’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals, while Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has the most players still playing in the league. On 190.
“[It was] Haaland said: “Chaotic. Nine goals in one game is too much. If you’re watching this game at home, it should be today’s game like I said! It was a crazy game.”
“When it was 5-2 or 5-3 I was about to score and then they went ahead and made it 5-3. This is football, this is the beauty of football. This is why we love the game.”
