The king and the queen led a two -minute silence in the service in Staffordshire to celebrate 80 years ago.
Among the attendees were the veterans, some of whom participated in the ceremony by placing wreaths and giving readings.
VJ Day, or victory during Japan, is marked every year on August 15 – 1945 when Japan surrendered to allied forces and the Second World War.
