Pope Francis waves to crowd in first public appearance since leaving hospital

Pope Francis waved the crowd in the Vatican, where he has made his first public appearance since he left the hospital.

The Pope – on a wheelchair with a breathing tube to the top of his nose – he appeared shortly on the stage in Saint Peter’s Square on Sunday.

The 88 -year -old Pope has not been seen in public places since he was discharged from Gemili Hospital in Rome on March 23 after receiving treatment for pneumonia.

Doctors said at the time that he would need at least two months of rest.
