Pope Francis appeared in his window to Jimili Hospital in Rome and offered a blessing for the first time since his acceptance on February 14.
The 88 -year -old Pope came out minutes later and doctors say he would need at least two months of comfort in the Vatican.
During the past five weeks, he presented two “very critical rings” as his “life was in danger,” said Dr. Sergio Alviri, one of the doctors who treat the Pope.
Dr. Alfiri said that Pope Francis was never a warehouse and remained always in alert and directed. Doctors say that although the Pope did not heal completely, he no longer suffers from pneumonia and will return to work as soon as possible, if the direction continues.
The mayor of Rome, Roberto Galtiri, told the BBC that he felt “with great joy, and a great passion for seeing Pope Francis to leave the hospital.”
“It is a great gift for the city and the passage … We support him and feel close to him,” the mayor said.
A crowd gathered outside the hospital on Sunday, waiting for the appearance of the Pope.
“When I saw him, I felt, to be honest, slightly comfortable,” said bishop Larry Colic of Greensburg diocese in Pennsylvania. “I felt overwhelmed to see him.”
“I cried all the time because the love we breathe in this small box of this hospital was like Paradise,” said Eilara del Della Bedia, a singer from Rome.
Anna Matos from Brazil said that she “has just arrived from Brazil today” and arrived at the hospital “30 seconds before he appeared.” “It was a great feeling, just as I had my son. I was very happy to see him in good health and I can see him smiling,” she said.
The audience had previously seen the Pope only once since he was hospitalized, in a photo released by the Vatican last week, which showed him while praying in the hospital chapel.
Earlier this month, an audio recording of Pope Francis was played in St. Peter Square in the Vatican city.
His voice was breathless because he thanked the Catholic believers for their prayers.
Pope Francis spent 12 years as a leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
He suffered a number of health problems throughout his life, including a part of one of his lungs at the age of 21, making him more vulnerable to infection.
