Crews and Roach share the same idea in terms of winning and then immediately moving on to another big fight. Ironically, both Cruz and Roach were thrust into the spotlight after having highly competitive fights against Gervonta “Tank” Davis.

Back in December 2021, Pitbull Crews made his boxing debut when he challenged Tank Davis for the WBA (regular) lightweight title. Cruz got off to a good start as he pressed forward hard and landed some powerful shots to the body.

Throughout the fight, Cruz was the aggressor as he constantly pressed forward and forced Davis to fight on his back foot. It was a very competitive fight, but at the conclusion of the 12-round contest, Gervonta Davis was declared the winner.

Three years later, Isaac Cruz won his first world title when he stopped Rolly Romero in the eighth round. In his first defense, Cruz lost the WBA super lightweight belt to Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela via split decision.

Cruz would rebound by defeating Angel Fierro by unanimous decision. In his next bout, Cruz defeated Omar Salcedo and won the vacant WBC interim title. Now, Isaac Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs) is about to face a highly skilled and highly motivated man.

Back in March 2025, the DMV contest took place in Brooklyn as Gervonta Davis of Baltimore defended his WBA world title against Lamont Roach of Washington, DC. In the opening round, Roach set the tone for the round by limiting Davis to just one punch.

Later in the eighth, Lamont Roach knocked Gervonta Davis off balance when he fell with a hard right hand. A controversial moment occurred in the ninth round when Roach took a hard blow, and Davis took a step back and proceeded to kneel.

Instead of making the right decision and giving her a knockout, the referee decided to warn Davis. It was a back and forth fight, and at the conclusion of the contest, the match was declared a draw.

Now Lamont Roach Jr. (25-1-2, 10 KOs) is ready to test himself in a different way. When he fought Davis, Roach was facing a tough counterpunch, but on December 6, Roach will go into the fight against an aggressive fighter who stays on top.

Lamont Roach is a skilled counter-puncher with a high IQ, a strong jab, excels at angles, has good hole placement, and is responsible defensively. His opponent, Isaac Cruz, routinely uses high guarding and applies relentless pressure.

This fight will feature Roach’s intensity versus Cruz’s aggression. Roach wants to slow the fight down, use his technical advantages and shoot from the outside.

His opponent, Pitbull Cruz, wants a close-quarters fight. Cruz wants to stay on the front foot and fight at an up-tempo pace, throwing punches in combinations.

The Isaac Cruz vs. Lamont Roach fight for the WBC interim super lightweight title is an interesting bout due to the fact that both fighters have a style that can defeat the other. The question is, which boxer will be able to successfully control range and distance, execute his game plan correctly, and pull off the signature win?
