Palisades fire burns homes as thousands evacuate in LA

The Palisades Fire in Los Angeles, California, prompted mandatory evacuations, as thick, dense smoke billowed over the area.

Officials say the fire grew from 20 acres to more than 200 acres in about 20 minutes after it was reported at about 10:30 local time.

The growth was boosted by high winds that placed much of the state under a red flag warning.
