Kyiv hit by deadly Russian missile and drone attack

Ukraine has repeatedly mentioned that it will not abandon the Crimea, a southern peninsula that Russia illegally included in 2014.

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a large -scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and Moscow currently rules about 20 % of Ukrainian lands.

The government emergency service in Ukraine and the Ministry of Interior said that nine people were killed in Kiev in the Russian attack overnight.

In a post on social media, mayor Klitchko wrote that six children and a pregnant woman are among the injured.

“The fires erupted in six sites,” he said, adding that there are “people under the rubble” of a devastating residential building.

Ihor Klymenko said that “phone calls can be heard from the debris.”

He also said that two children were reported.

Rescue teams with Sniffer dogs were seen combed through debris while searching for survivors.

Klitschko said the worst blow was the western Svyoshinski area in the capital.

Footage of social media that appeared to show the missiles hit Kiev, which led to a massive burning.

In Kharkiv, about 40 km (25 miles) from the Russian border, two people were injured, the Mayor Terekhov said.

He said that “private homes” were damaged in Russian missiles and Russian aircraft during the night.

Air Force has warned Ukraine that all regions in the country were at the threat of air strikes.

The Russian army did not comment on the reported attacks.

In a post on social media, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that 87 Ukrainian drones were destroyed or overlooked overnight on several Russian regions.
