Israeli strikes in Yemen kill 35 people, Houthis say

At least 35 people were killed in Israeli air strikes in the Houthi -controlled areas of Yemen on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health in the Iranian -backed group.

The Israeli army said it struck military targets in the capital, SANA, and Jawaf Province, including what was called “Houthi Military Public Relations headquarters”, in response to missile attacks and recent modern aircraft on Israel.

However, the Houthi military spokesman said the targets were civil, adding that journalists and passers -by were killed when two press offices were injured.

In the early hours of Thursday, the Israeli army said it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen.

The Houthis did not comment at all, but one of the group’s leaders pledged to respond to the Israeli strikes “with all our strength.”

Last month, an Israeli strike was killed in SANA, Prime Minister of the Houthi government, Ahmed Al -Rahwi, and many ministers.

The videos published on the Internet on Wednesday afternoon showed columns of black smoke that rise from the sites of many explosions in SANA, and the first respondents to search through the ruins of damaged buildings.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced in a statement that the aircraft had set an unspecified number of military targets in the capital and in Yaju, including military camps, and an attachment to store fuel and what they described as the Houthi “public relations administration”.

She said that the administration “is responsible for distributing and publishing advertising messages in the media, including the sermons of the Houthi leader Abdul -Malik [al-Houthi] And the data of the speaker, Yahya Sari.

He added that the military camps were used to plan attacks on Israel.

These attacks included the launch of hundreds of uninhabited air vehicles (UAV) and missiles from the surface to the surface towards Israeli territory for almost two years. Most of them were intercepted, but a drone hit an airport in southern Israel on Sunday, which hit one person.

“Several days ago, most of the members of the Houthi terrorist government were canceled. In response, the Houthis shot two days ago at Ramon Airport,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during an event in Bat Yam in central Israel.

“This has not weakened our determination – we shocked them again today from the air, their terrorist facilities, their terrorist bases with a large number of terrorists, and other facilities as well. We will continue to strike. Whoever harms us, whatever he attacks us – we will reach them.”

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarba said that her air defenses had participated in Israeli aircraft and denied that missile launch sites had been injured.

“[Israel’s] He said that the strikes targeted purely civilian targets.

Al -Masjara TV reported that the strikes in SANA hit a medical station in the southwest of the city, the headquarters of the moral guidance directorate in the Al -Tahr neighborhood in the center, and the newspapers of September 26 and Yemen, which said that caused offers and a widespread guarantee of nearby homes and shops.

The channel also said that there were strikes on a government complex and a branch of the central bank in the city of attendance, in Jawaf County.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Anis Al -Ashayi, said on Wednesday evening that 28 people were killed and 113 were injured in SANA, and that seven other people were killed and injured in a jawaf.

He added that it is possible that the death toll is likely to increase because the first respondents were still looking for missing people under the rubble of destroyed buildings.

“The Zionist aggression against our country has failed,” said Mahdi Al -Mashaat, head of the Houthi Political Council in Yemen.

“All Israelis should remain at a state of high alert, as revenge is inevitable. The attack gave us a greater opportunity to respond to full power.”

The Houthis have taken control of many Yemen in the northwest since they toppled the internationally recognized government from there 10 years ago, which sparked a civil war.

They started attacking Israel and international shipping in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden shortly after the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza in October 2023, saying they were acting to support the Palestinians.

Israel carried out several rounds of air strikes against the Houthis in response to hundreds of missiles and drones that were launched in the country from Yemen.

The United States and the United Kingdom also carried out air strikes in Yemen, which is controlled by Houthi in response to the Houthi attacks on dozens of commercial ships.
