Officials said that the rebels linked to the Islamic State Group (IS) killed more than 50 people at a funeral in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The officials added that most of the victims were hacked by machines in the night attack by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) on a village in the northern province of Kivu.
This is the latest in a series of ADF attacks, which raises fears that its rebellion is growing in strength.
ADF appeared in Uganda in the 1990s, accusing the government there of persecution of Muslims. It is now based on the border in Dr. Congo and carried out attacks in both countries.
Reuters reported Reuters.
Army spokesman, Dr. Kongo Mark Elongo, said that ADF fighters “have already committed the massacre” by the time the soldiers intervened during the Monday night attack.
ADF has not yet commented, but the central boycott of Africa in the Islamic State, which belongs to the group, confirmed the attack on it.
He said that more than 100 people were killed.
Mishapi Voice Radio, a local broadcaster, gave a lack of similar death, quoting witnesses to their saying that there is a “complete massacre” in the village, with some people also in their homes.
The United Nations and the army said at the time that more than 40 people, including nine children, were killed in an attack by ADF fighters in the Northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo in July.
Most of them were worshipers participating in the night protest in a church in the town of Commanda when they were attacked.
According to the research conducted by the BBC monitoring, approximately 90 % of operations are being carried out by Africa subsidiary companies.
