IS-linked rebels accused of killing Christian worshippers in Komanda

Local officials say dozens of people were killed in an attack by an Islamic company in the northeastern Republic of the Congo.

They say that about 20 of the dead were the worshipers participating in a night stand in a church in the town of Commanda when they were attacked by allied Democratic Forces fighters (ADF).

The nearby stores and companies were looted and set fire.

ADF appeared in Uganda in the 1990s, accusing the government there by persecution of Muslims, but it is now on the border in Dr. Congo, where it attacks regularly civilians of all religions, as well as in Uganda.

It has since become part of the Central African County, which also includes a group in Mozambique.

According to the research conducted by the BBC monitoring, approximately 90 % of operations are being carried out by Africa subsidiary companies.

“More bodies after the last attack could be found.

“More than 21 people were shot inside and outside [the church] We have recorded at least three charred bodies and several burning houses. But the search is continuing. ”

“We have at least 31 deadly members in the Crusader Al -Afkharest Movement, with six serious injuries. Some young people were kidnapped, we have no news about them,” Father Amy Lukana Dahugo, the local priest, told Agence France -Presse.

He added that seven other bodies were found elsewhere in the city.

Radio Okapi, which is sponsored by the United Nations, put the number of dead in 43.

A army spokesman said it could confirm 10 deaths.

In 2021, Dr. Kongo called on the Ugandan forces to the country to help treat ADF. But the attacks are still ongoing.
