Harvey Weinstein found guilty of sexual assault after New York retrial

Harvey Winstein was convicted of sexual assault in New York, after the condemnation of sexual crimes in the state last year.

A committee of seven females and five male jury circulated for a period of five days in the six -week trial before voting unanimously to condemn the disgraceful film pole in one of three charges.

The jury found it not guilty of the additional sexual assault, and has not yet re -was a verdict of rape.

The condemnation, in addition to a 16 -year prison sentence, did not serve Wenstein after being convicted of sexual crimes in Los Angeles.

The trial was based on the testimony of three women – former TV production assistant Myriam Haley, actress Jessica Man, and the Kaja Sukola model. He accused the three Winstein of using his power in the entertainment industry for sexual abuse.

On Wednesday, the jury found Winstein guilty of attacking Mrs. Haley, but found that he was not guilty of assaulting Mrs. Sukola. They have not yet received a judgment on Mrs. Man, and they plan to resume deliberations in the number of rape on Thursday.

The Court of Appeal abolished the former Winsetein condemnation of sexual crimes in New York last April, and found that the 73 -year -old did not receive a fair trial in 2020 because the judge allowed his testimony from women who made allegations against him outside the charges.

Then Winstein was charged with the new sexual assault in the state in September.

In a statement, Winstein’s spokesman said the trial was “fair until we reached the deliberations of the jury.”

“More than one jury complained that other jury had prior concepts and used their beliefs of Harvey’s life as evidence of guilt,” said a spokesman. “We believe that there are serious problems with the appeal and will be explored.”

The jury’s deliberations were afflicted with tensions during the past week. On Monday, Foreperson accused the other jury of “attacking” other people and trying to change their opinion. He said that the jurors were thinking about the past of Winstein and other allegations outside the world of the case in making their decisions.

The judge said that he would give the jury instructions for consideration of allegations in the case only.

Winstein – who suffers from cancer and diabetes – is in a bad health condition and stayed in the Bulfio Hospital instead of Rekerr’s Island prison during the experiment. He sat on a wheelchair for the procedures.

New York’s re -trial focused on two women who brought allegations against Winstein for the trial of 2020, Mrs. Man and Mrs. Haley.

This also included new allegations by Mrs. Sukola, a former Polish model and actress, who was accused of sexual assault on her when she was nineteen years old. The jury found not guilty of the attack on Wednesday.

For several days, the three women have witnessed the sexual assault that they had endured at the hands of Winstein.

The three said that they met Winstein when they were young and are looking for job opportunities in the entertainment industry. Then he forced themselves to them during special meetings in hotels and his homes, as women claimed.

His legal team argued that his sexual confrontations with women were all consent and a kind of “friends with benefits”.

Winstein’s lawyers tried to stay away from the credibility of women, which showed warm messages some of the women he exchanged with the film pole after the alleged attacks.

In total, Winstein was accused of sexual misconduct, assault and rape by more than 100 women. Although all reports did not lead to criminal charges, California condemnation means that he is likely to spend the rest of his life in prison.

The decision to accuse him of progress, and his subsequent condemnation in New York, motivated the #Metoo movement against sexual assault by strong men.

Before the allegations appeared against him, Winstein and his brother Bob were among the Hollywood power players.

Weinstein participated in the founding of Miramax Film Studio, whose songs Shakespeare included in love, who won the Best Academy Awards Award and Pulp Fitch.

Winstein also faced a number of civil lawsuits, including a group of women who accused him of sexual harassment and rape. The case resulted in a settlement of $ 19 million (14.2 pounds) in 2020.
