Frank tells players to be ‘brave’

Thomas Frank described the visit of former Brentford side as “beautiful timing” and told his players to be “brave” as Tottenham seek a first win in seven home games. Premier League Saturday matches.

Only bottom-of-the-table Wolves have a worse home record in the Championship this season than Tottenham, who conceded two goals in the first six minutes of their 2-1 defeat to Fulham at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Saturday, when Frank questioned parts of the crowd who expressed their displeasure.

“They’re off the field, none of us are,” Frank said, speaking of a team that is without a win in five matches in all competitions, but drew 2-2 with Newcastle on Tuesday thanks to captain Cristian Romero’s 95th-minute equaliser.

“They need to solve this problem and they can only do it together.”

Tottenham vs Brentford

In his first season since leaving Brentford, Frank is second favorite to Leeds United boss Daniel Farke to become the next manager in the division to leave after taking two points from five league games which put Spurs in 11th place.

The Dane joined Brentford from Brondby as assistant coach in December 2016 and has recorded one win in 10 games after being appointed manager in October 2018, going on to win Championship qualifiers in 2020/21 and position the Bees as European favorites in the Premier League.

“I’ve spent almost a quarter of my life there,” Frank said, describing the match as “more special for me” and praising the “small adjustments” made by his successor Keith Andrews to the team’s points tally at Spurs.

“There are a lot of people I will meet on Saturday that I haven’t seen for a long time. [There are] Players I know well. A lot of their identities are similar, which makes it difficult in many ways.

“It’s nice timing to get the three points. [We must be] Sharper, faster, more penetrative and more powerful and courageous. “We’re looking forward to it.”

Tottenham injuries: Solanke and Kulusevski update

Frank said that playmaker Dejan Kulusevski and striker Dominic Solanke would not return from injury against Brentford and praised midfielder Xavi Simons and striker Matthijs Tille, two new players who are struggling to establish themselves as regular starters.

“The way [Tel] “He carries himself and the way he trains has been very good,” Frank said of his £30m arrival from Bayern Munich.

“He mainly played as a nine, but I’m fully aware that he can play on the left flank. The only thing any player can do is keep training well, keep doing everything to get my attention and keep making things difficult for me when I make my decision.”

“[He has a] Very good behavior on the training field, I like that very much. We played different matches with different formations and Xavi [has been approaching] Something better and better.

“Just like Matty, he has trained well, has a good attitude and we are getting closer. He has played in the last four games.”
