Five soldiers shot on Georgia military base, suspect in custody

Witness: Emergency crews respond to fire at Fort Stewart in the US state of Georgia

Officials confirmed that five soldiers were injured in a shooting incident in Fort Stewart, a military base in the US state of Georgia.

The military base said that the suspect was detained, and the injured soldiers were treated at the site before being transferred to the hospital for further treatment. It is still unclear how serious the injuries are.

Officials said there is no longer a threat to society, although they had not provided more details about the gunman.

About 240 miles (386 km), southeast of Atlanta.

The joint video on social media shows military personnel sitting from the scene.

Law enforcement was alerted to shoot at 10:56 US ES (15:56 GMT) and the armed arrest was arrested at 11:35 US time.

White House press secretary Caroline Levit said that President Donald Trump had been shot.

“The White House is watching the situation.”

The FBI in Atlanta said they were aware of the accident.

The governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, said he was “closely in contact” with the application of the law on the ground.

He said, “We keep the victims and their families and all those who answer the invitation to serve in our hearts and prayers, and we ask the Georgians everywhere to do the same.”

“He is watching the situation.”

He wrote on Twitter: “Please join me in prayers for losses and their families and brave law enforcement officers working to protect our society.”

About 280,00 acres, Fort Stewart is the largest American army base east of the Mississippi River, a home of approximately 10,000 people.

It is located in Henzville, a town in a state of about 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Safana.
