Shakur Stevenson says he’ll be the new oneface of boxing In the sport after defeating WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez on January 31, 2026.
“I’m the biggest star”
Stevenson (24-0, 11 KO) said he’s the one who brings in the crowds, sells the tickets, and is the biggest star. He says he is willing to fight anyone until he is recognized by fans as the “face of boxing.” To be a “face”, Shakur has to be entertaining, and he’s not.
There are at least nine fighters at 135, 140 and 147 that Shakur must defeat in order to be seen as the legitimate “face” of the sport. It looks like a narcissistic, Much like his “brother” Keshawn Davis used to talk before he went to the rack.
A win over Teofimo (22-1, 13 KO) is not good enough, because he has already lost to George Kambosos. He has two controversial victories over Jamin Ortiz and Sandor Martinez that he should have lost in the eyes of the fans.
Can he beat any of them?
- Gary Antoine Russell
- Subriel Mathias
- Andy Cruz
- Floyd Scofield
- Abdullah Maysoon
- Connor Ben
- Jamin Ortiz
- Ernesto Mercado
- Richardson Hitchens
There is an excellent chance that Shakur will lose to these nine fighters. If he upped his game, he would probably beat one of them, Hitchens. But as for the others, I don’t see him coming close to beating any of them. They’re so good, Stevenson can’t hit.
“I’m that guy. I’m the guy that’s going to put *** in the seat. Everybody’s going to tune in to my fight,” Shakur Stevenson said. Cigar Talk When asked if he is the next face of boxing. “We can act like Teo is the top side of this fight just because he got the belt. But honestly, is he the top side?”
January 31 will tell everyone
Fans will tune in on January 31, but that’s more down to Teofimo, and the undercard will likely be loaded. It won’t be because of Shakur because he’s not a big attraction.
“I’m the bigger fighter. After I beat him, I’m the face. Anywhere I go on this planet, everyone knows Shakur. Out with the old, in with the new. I’m the man. That’s cool,” Stevenson said when he was told that to be ‘the man’, he had to beat everyone. “I’m up for the challenge. Starting with Teo, who’s next?”
