Former American Senator Robert Mindez’s wife was sentenced to 4 and a half years’ imprisonment for helping her husband in a bribery scheme that includes cash, golden bars and Mercedes -Benz.
Nadine Mindez, 58, was convicted in April 15 charges, including bribery, after jury found that she had acted as a channel for her husband and Egyptian officials, transferring messages and arranging meetings.
“I put my life in his hands and hit me like the doll,” she told the judge crying before the verdict was issued on Thursday.
Her husband was convicted last year and was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the plan, which also led to his political fall. Prosecutors described it as indispensable for the conspiracy.
On Thursday morning, Minindiz cried with the judge.
“I know now that he is not my sincere. He is not the man I thought he was,” she told the judge, referring to her husband, News Correspondent in New York in court on X.
