Drunk raccoon found passed out on liquor store floor after breaking in

Employees at a Virginia liquor store were shocked Saturday when they came to work to find that the store had been broken into by a very drunk raccoon.

The “masked bandit” was found passed out in the bathroom between the toilet and the dustbin and had helped himself to some liquor on the bottom shelf.

Animal Control Officer Samantha Martin transported the “suspect” for questioning to the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter Center but not before he had a chance to wake up.

After a few hours of sleep and no signs of injury (other than alcohol), the animal was safely released back into the wild.

The Ashland ABC store was closed for Thanksgiving when it was subjected to a “Black Friday break-in.”

When employees arrived on Saturday, they found smashed bottles and alcoholic beverages piled up on the floor, including their favorite drink, Scotch.

Officer Martin said the animal fell through one of the ceiling tiles before “going completely agitated and drinking everything”.

There is only one blurry CCTV image showing the drunken drunk, so it is unknown how much alcohol the thirsty creature consumed before passing out in the bathroom.

In a post on social media, the store thanked Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter for its professionalism and providing its visitor with a “sober ride home.”

Officer Martin said it was “just another day in the life of an animal control officer.”
