Confident about $100 bn EFTA investment into India over 15 years: Swiss minister

In a major batch of the investment scene in India, Switzerland has expressed its strong confidence that the recently -old Trade Trading Agreement will lead to $ 100 billion in investment in India for the next fifteen years.

Helen Bodliger Artetia, Minister of State at the Swiss State Municipality for Economic Affairs, stressed that Swiss companies are in a good position to provide this ambitious commitment, driven by their focus on quality and creating a long -term value.

“It will be very easy to reach this goal and also a million jobs created as part of the agreement,” said Bodliger Artetia, talking about the commercial agreement signed between India and European Free Trade (EFTA), which includes Switzerland, Norway, and Legtinstein. She added that describing the number of $ 100 billion as a “large amount”: “We are confident that the amount of $ 100 billion will be invested in India for the next fifteen years.”

However, Budlieger Artidea stressed the importance of creating a favorable environment in India to facilitate this investment flow. She said: “If this investment has to enter, we will need to obtain the best investment framework – it will be important to create India.” “It will be important for the red tape to be cut as much as possible.”

The EFTA agreement is scheduled to enter into force on October 1, and new trade and investment opportunities are expected to open between India and the four EFTA countries.

The minister explained that “Switzerland is not in the field of exporting people – we are only 9 million.” She also indicated that many Swiss companies operating in India have administrative teams that are obtained locally, which reflects confidence in Indian talent.

The Efta-INDIA agreement is seen as an important step forward in deepening trade relations in India and strengthening its role as a global investment destination.
