China warns nations against ‘appeasing’ US in trade deals

China has warned countries against the United States in commercial talks about President Donald Trump’s tariff.

A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce made comments in response to a report stating that Washington was planning the pressure of governments to restrict trade with Beijing in exchange for exemptions from American import taxes.

The Trump administration has started talks with commercial partners on customs tariffs, as a Japanese delegation is visiting Washington last week, and South Korea is scheduled to start negotiations this week.

Since his return to the White House in January, Trump has imposed a huge tariff on Chinese imports, while other countries have also been subjected to their goods.

“The calm cannot bring peace, and the settlement cannot gain a single respect,” said a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

“China believes that all parties should stand by fairness … and should defend international economic and trade rules and a multilateral trading system.”

Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that the United States plans to use customs tariff negotiations to pressure dozens of countries to impose new barriers on trade with China.

BBC asked the US Treasury Department to respond to the report.

“If you put the numbers on it, about 20 % of Japan’s profit comes from the United States, about 15 % comes from the People’s Republic of China,” said Japanese online trading operator online.

Certainly, Japan does not want that [have to] Choose between America and the People’s Republic of China. “

Since its inauguration, there has been a wave of ads about the tariffs.

The US President said that import taxes will encourage American consumers to buy more US -made goods, increase the amount of tax that was raised, and lead to significant investments in the country.

However, critics said that re -manufacturing to the United States is complicated and could take decades and that the economy will struggle in the meantime.

Trump also retracted many of his ads.

A few hours after dozens of trading partners in America kicked earlier this month, he announced a 90 -day halt to this tariff to all countries in China, in the face of the increasing opposition from politicians and markets.

Trump imposed taxes of up to 145 % on imports from China. Other countries are now facing a 10 % American blanket tariff until July.

His administration said last week that when the new tariffs are added to those existing, fees on some Chinese goods can reach 245 %.

Trump said that more than 70 countries have continued to start negotiations since the announcement of definitions.
