Cautious optimism prevails over India US trade deal, New Delhi continues to negotiate with Washington

There is cautious optimism that surrounds the commercial deal between India and the United States, following its apparent melting in bilateral relations. US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed optimism about the early conclusion of the agreement.

New Delhi officials confirmed that India has not abandoned trade talks with the United States, which will continue at the general deadline for completing the month of October or November in line with the joint statement of Prime Minister Moody and US President Trump. “It is not as if the negotiations have been canceled. India will continue and continue to communicate with the United States for a commercial deal,” the sources were confirmed.

However, it is hoped that the United States will remove a 25 % penalty on India, which gives a break for Indian exporters. Meanwhile, the government was also working on a relief package for exporters, although various quarters indicated that the commercial deal between the two countries is likely.

It also remains to see how India deals with the American demand to open dairy and agriculture sectors that are still in India in commercial deals.

Ajay Srivastava, founder of the World Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) stressed that India should remain fixed. “The negotiations were already ongoing when India faced a 25 % tariff, with hopes of up to 10 %. Trump added another penalty kick by 25 % linked to Russian oil,” and indicated that unless the United States drops this tariff – which seems unlikely in the supreme case of the Supreme Court can move real. He said: “Trump’s warm words may be simply a tactic to weaken India’s intention to pursue multiple poles with Russia and China.”

US President Donald Trump announced early on Wednesday in a publication on the social truth that India and the United States are continuing negotiations to address commercial barriers between the two countries. He said: “I look forward to talking to my dear friend, Prime Minister Modi, in the coming weeks. I feel that there will be no difficulty in reaching a successful result for both our great countries.”

In response, the PM MDI also expressed confidence that commercial negotiations will pave the way for the opening capabilities of India and the United States. He said: “Our teams are working to conclude these discussions as soon as possible.”

The data of the two leaders comes early on Wednesday, weeks of pressure from Washington, DC on New Delhi, to reduce the customs tariffs on American exports and stop the purchases of oil from Russia to close the proposed commercial deal.

The United States also imposed the highest tariff of 50 % on India, which includes a 25 % punishment tariff for buying crude oil from Russia. According to reports, the United States also asked the European Union to impose a 100 % tariff on India and China, the largest importers of Russian crude oil, as part of a strategy to pressure Russia to end the war with Ukraine.

A report issued by Kotak’s institutional shares warned that the long confrontation could have profound implications for the Indian economy, call for more sanctions from the United States, and recent comments from various American political leaders. She said: “India and the United States have had deep economic relations for a long time with a large bilateral trade in both goods and services, and the huge investment of American investors (both FPI and FDI and a large number of American companies operating in India.”

However, India and the United States have not been historically strong with an unlimited position of India despite more cooperation in the past few years (both of which are part of the quarter) and the United States historically more compatible with Pakistan.
