Three days of mourning in Austria were announced after the attack, and a precise silence was held at the country level on Wednesday at 10:00 local time (08:00 GMT) on the anniversary of the victims. The Austrian flag was reduced to half of the mast on all public buildings.

She said: “I know this family for a long time, including the son of the family, and I knew that he attended that school.

The accident is the most mass fire in the history of modern Austria.

In 2020, the jihadist gunman Kujtim Fejzulai fired four dead people and 23 others were wounded in the busy night life area in Vienna.

Meanwhile, in 2016, a gunman opened fire at a concert in the town of Ninzeng, killing two people before he shot himself. Eleven people were injured in the attack.
