At least 12 homes were either destroyed or damaged when a bushfire swept through a coastal area north of Sydney, local authorities said.
The fire broke out in the town of Coolewong, New South Wales. Dozens of wildfires are burning across the state, due to rising temperatures.
One local resident, who did not give his name, said: “You didn’t even have time to think… We lost everything, all we have left is what to wear.”
Aerial footage showed several houses on fire while firefighting helicopters worked to put out the flames.
