Mohamed Salah lashes out and says he has been ‘thrown under the bus’ by Liverpool and Arne Slot

“I’m very, very disappointed to be fair. I’ve done a lot for this club over the years and especially last season.

“Now I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That’s how I feel. I think it’s very clear that someone wanted me to take all the blame.

“I got a lot of promises in the summer and so far I’ve been on the bench for three games so I can’t say they kept the promise.”

We have no relationship – Salah is on the slot

Salah signed a new two-year contract in the summer after an impressive season in 2024/25, Slot’s first at the club, but he says his relationship with the Dutchman is no longer what it was.

The former Roma and Chelsea striker said: “I said several times before that I had a good relationship with the coach, and suddenly we no longer have any relationship.”

“I don’t know why, but it seems to me, as I see it, that someone doesn’t want me at the club.

“This club, I always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much and I always will. I called my mum yesterday – you guys didn’t know if I was going to start or not, but I knew.”

Liverpool will host Brighton next weekend, after which Salah is scheduled to join the Egypt squad in the tournament African Cup of Nations.

He even indicated that this could be his last appearance for the club.

He said: I told them yesterday [my family]Come to the Brighton game. I don’t know if I will play or not, but I will enjoy the match.

“In my mind, I’m going to enjoy this match because I don’t know what’s going to happen now.

“I will be at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go to the Africa Cup of Nations. I don’t know what will happen when I am there.”

“I’m not the problem”

Salah is tired of insinuations that he is a ‘problem’.

“It is unacceptable to me,” he said. “I don’t know why this is happening to me. I don’t understand it. I think if this were somewhere else, every club would protect their player.

“How I see it now is like you’re throwing Mo under the bus because he’s the problem in the team now. But I don’t think I’m the problem. I’ve done a lot for this club.

“The respect I want to get. I don’t have to fight every day for my position because I’ve earned it. I’m not bigger than anyone but I’ve earned my position. It’s football. It is what it is.

“Tomorrow (Jamie) Carragher will come after me again and again and that’s good.”
