Scores and reports as Man City close the gap on leaders Arsenal

Sean Dyche endured a miserable return to Everton this afternoon as Thierno Barry helped the Toffees to a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Dyche was dismissed from Everton’s coaching position last January, and he started his career well at Forest, but they suffered a major defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The visitors fell behind early when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s cross struck Nikola Milinkovic and went past Matz Cels.

It was 2-0 in first-half stoppage time when Barry scored his first goal for Everton in his 17th appearance following a big-money move from Villarreal over the summer. Elimane Ndiaye was the architect having a strong run before slipping into Bari and finishing the race neatly.

Dewsbury-Hall, who had already hit the post, added the third with a powerful shot into the bottom corner.

With this win, Everton rises to fifth place While Forest remains three points outside the relegation zone.

Barry told the BBC: “I feel very happy today, and I cannot stop smiling because I scored a goal.

“Before today, I knew I could score – in the last home game I scored, but the VAR canceled it. I went down before the goal, but I knew I had to stay on the field and 10 minutes later I scored.”

Frank is enjoying some rest as Tottenham overtake former club Brentford

Tottenham moved up to eighth place after beating Brentford 2-0.

Thomas Frank enjoyed the encounter with his former club, with goals from Richarlison and Xavi Simons proving the difference.

“After some tough games, it’s nice to see,” Frank said. “It was a more complete performance. I liked the dynamics and speed with which we played in attack. I liked our aggressiveness in the duels. And on the other side too, we defended well which is what you have to do. “It was the complete performance we were looking for.”

Newcastle beat Burnley with ten players

Newcastle also won at home, beating struggling Burnley 2-1.

Bruno Guimarães reduced the visitors’ impressive start by scoring directly from a corner kick shortly after the half-hour mark.

Burnley’s task became more difficult when Lucas Pires was sent off after blocking Anthony Elanga.

Newcastle capitalized on their man advantage when Leslie Ugochukwu was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box in first-half stoppage time and Anthony Gordon converted the penalty.

Burnley reduced the gap with a late penalty kick taken by Xian Fleming, but did not succeed in equalizing, while Newcastle also celebrated the debut of striker Yoan Wesa, who was absent due to a knee injury.

Today’s English Premier League results:

Aston Villa 2-1 Arsenal

Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea

Everton 3-0 Nottingham Forest
