Manchester City I moved inside Two points from Premier League leaders Arsenal With a routine win over 10 men Sunderland This afternoon.
Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol contributed in the first half to controlling the host team, and Phil Foden added his brilliance in the second half before Luke O’Nien was sent off in stoppage time.
It was a disappointing performance from the Wearsiders, whose switch to a five-man defence meant they didn’t offer much for the attack, especially in a scoreless first half.

Sunderland improve but Foden finishes it off
Jeremy Doku curled a shot wide of the goal after the start of the second half, and the Belgian player came closer after 53 minutes with a shot that hit the post. It seemed that Foden was going to take advantage of the rebound, but Dan Ballard blocked it.
Sunderland offered little but almost found their way back into the game two minutes later – Dias’s neat pass allowed Wilson Isidore to run cleanly but his shot was blocked by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Granit Xhaka then came close to scoring with a shot that hit the post.
Sunderland’s short spell faded and City were back on top – with Lucharel Gertruida heading Haaland’s shot off the goal line after great work from Ryan Cherqui.
French international Chergui, who was called up to the starting lineup, was brilliant throughout the match and played a key role in City’s decisive third goal through a wonderful cross pass from Rabona that Foden sent into the net.
Substitute Tijjani Reynders almost added a fourth goal, while Rufus did well to block Shirky’s shot.
Sunderland’s suffering was exacerbated by the late sending off of substitute Onin for a foul on Matthews Nunes.
