Oleksandr Usyk: I will help Anthony Joshua beat Tyson Fury

From Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed to… Arturo Gatti and Mickey WardBoxing has long shown that rivals can become allies. Creed helped orchestrate Balboa’s victory over Clubber Lang; Ward later tried to restore Gatti to his now past glories Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua You may be about to do the same.

Joshua recently revealed that he will be joining Usyk’s training camp in preparation for his eight-round crossover bout with Jake Paul on December 19. Ben Davison will not be at Joshua’s side this time, although the identity of his permanent replacement remains unknown.

If Joshua comes through as expected, attention will shift back to the long-awaited British film Tyson Fury. The battle’s shelf life may be diminishing, but popular demand and media momentum will certainly swell if negotiations resume.

Usyk has already shown a blueprint to beat Fury in their back-to-back fights. The Ukrainian’s dribbling, speed and sharp shots almost stopped the ‘Gypsy King’ in their first meeting, and although the rematch was closer, Usyk emerged victorious.

talking to King of Boxing MediaUsyk was asked if he would consider helping Joshua prepare for Fury if the fight goes ahead. The hero was clear in his response.

“Yes, I’m helping him.”

Then his translator added an additional point.

“Two for one.”

Regarding working with “AJ” in general, the Ukrainian received a lot of praise.

“I love this guy, because he’s smart. I think this guy has a very big heart. He really loves boxing.”

Finally, Usyk said the operation was aimed at adding more to his former rival’s game rather than changing it.

“We don’t give my style. We, my team, it’s not just one Lion, it’s the only Usyk? No, we have a different style. I’m a southpaw, and Anthony is a regular. Anthony doesn’t move like me. Listen, we give the tools that help Anthony grow. My team with a plan, give me what helps me. My team gives plans that help anyone – not just my plan.”

Usyk recently vacated the WBO heavyweight title, but still retains the WBC, WBA and IBF titles. The Ukrainian is scheduled to return in 2026 He named the former titleholder as the man he wants to fight next.
