Trump targets longtime MAGA ally Marjorie Taylor Greene

President Donald Trump has withdrawn all support for Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, a hardline conservative who has long supported Trump’s agenda but has recently criticized many of his policies.

Trump said in nearly 300 words on social media that the Georgia state representative had gone “to the far left,” and called for her to be impeached in next year’s midterm elections by a Republican challenger.

This disagreement comes after Greene questioned whether Trump still puts “America First” on his agenda. She criticized his focus on foreign policy and handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Green said Trump was attacking to try to deter other Republicans from voting to release the files.

“All I see ‘idiot’ Marjorie doing is complaining, complaining, complaining!” Trump posted a tweet while on his way to his home in Florida on Friday evening.

He claimed she turned on him after he suggested she not run for governor or senator.

“She’s told a lot of people that she’s upset because I’m no longer answering her phone calls,” Trump said, adding: “I can’t take a crazy, loud phone call every day.”

Trump also said that voters in her district are “tired of her and her antics, and if the right person runs, they will have my full and unwavering support.”

Trump has long faced criticism from both parties over his handling of US Justice Department files related to Epstein, the late financier and convicted child sex offender.

Trump has been friends with Epstein for years, but the president said they fell out in the early 2000s, two years before Epstein was first arrested. Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding Epstein.

Greene is one of four House Republicans — including Nancy Mace, Lauren Boebert, and Thomas Massie — who joined Democrats in signing a discharge petition calling for the release of the Epstein files.

In response to Trump, Greene posted on X that Trump was trying to prevent other Republicans from voting for Epstein’s petition.

“He is aggressively pursuing me to set an example to scare all other Republicans before voting in the coming weeks to release the Epstein files,” she posted, adding: “It is truly amazing how hard he fought to prevent the Epstein files from coming out until he actually reached this level.”

In recent days, Green has attacked Trump for not doing enough to cut costs for voters, for his involvement in foreign conflicts, and for his tariff policies.

But she also strongly criticized his approach to handing over the Epstein files.

“I really stand with women, and I think they deserve to be the ones we’re fighting for,” she told CBS News, the BBC’s US partner, earlier on Friday.
