Poland is closest to the open conflict since World War II, warns the prime minister

The Polish Prime Minister said that at least three drones were shot down by Polish planes and other NATO aircraft in Poland’s airspace during night attacks on Ukraine.

Donald Tusk told MPS Poland has recorded 19 drones, with some deeper flying to close four airports, including the main Warsaw axis.

“This situation brings us the closest to us to open the conflict since World War II,” he said. This is the first time that Russian drones have been shot down on the lands of a NATO member since Moscow has widely invaded Ukraine in 2022.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that there were no plans to target facilities in the territory of Poland.

The ministry said in a statement, “The maximum range of Russian drones, which it has been alleged to crossed to Poland does not exceed 700 km (435 miles),” adding that he is “ready” to conduct consultations with the Polish Ministry of Defense.

Russia’s temporary charge in Poland said that Warsaw had not provided evidence that drones are of Russian origin.

Ukrainian President Foludmir Zellinski warned that the recent attack was “a very dangerous precedent for Europe”, while Foreign Minister Andre Cipha said it shows that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is still escalating and expanding the war.

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump wrote on the social media platform on Wednesday.

Earlier, a White House official told the BBC that Trump was tracking reports from Poland, and there were plans to speak to Polish President Carole Noruki this day.

He said that the Polish authorities do not have information indicating that anyone or died “as a result of Russian work.”

“The fact that these drones, which pose a security threat, have dropped the change of the political situation.

“I have no reason to claim that we are on the brink of war, but a line has been crossed, and it is an incomparable more dangerous than before.

Separately, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Interior said that the authorities had found seven drones and unknown remains in the locations throughout the country.

Carolina Gallica told a press conference that five drones and the remains of the unknown object were found in various locations in Lublin Province in eastern Poland, on the border with Belarus and Ukraine.

She said that two drones were discovered in central and northern Poland, far beyond the border.

The map shows the area where the drone attack occurred overnight. With Poland, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine named. Task, who held an emergency meeting on Wednesday morning, asked to summon Article 4 of the NATO treaty, which officially begins urgent talks between members of the coalition.

Both Tusk and Polish President Carole Noruki said they were “regularly contact” with NATO Secretary -General Mark Root, who praised a “very successful reaction” by the coalition.

President Noruki said on X.

Root added that the situation is being investigated, as it condemned the “reckless behavior” of Russia, regardless of whether it was deliberate.

Belarus, a close Russian ally, claimed that the drones had accidentally entered the Polish air space after their navigation systems were disturbed.

In a BBC statement, the Polish Ministry of Defense said: “The drones, which could have been a threat, had been proactive.

“Polish and NATO aircraft, including the F-35, F-16, Mi-24, Mi-17, and Black Hawk, were sent to the intended operating area.

The Polish army also thanked the Air Command in NATO and the Netherlands for deploying F-35 combat aircraft.
