Australia PM Albanese says Israel’s Netanyahu ‘in denial’ about Gaza war

Australian Prime Minister accused his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, of “in a state of denial” due to the consequences of the war in Gaza.

Anthony Albaniz announced on Monday that his country will recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations General Assembly in September, after similar moves by the United Kingdom, France and Canada.

Albaniz said that frustration with the Israeli government played a role in this step, saying the Australians, “They want to see the killing and the cycle of violence.”

Israel said, under increasing pressure to end the war in Gaza, in recognition that the Palestinian state “is equivalent to terrorism” and called on Netanyahu the decision taken by Australia and other “stocks”.

Netanyahu and his government face an increasing condemnation of hunger reports in Gaza.

Five people died due to malnutrition during the past 24 hours, including one child, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health, thus reaches the total number of malnutrition to 222 – including 101 children.

Israel denies that there is starvation in Gaza and has accused the United Nations agencies of not capturing and providing aid. The United Nations refused, saying it was facing obstacles and delay while collecting aid from the Israeli -controlled border areas.

Speaking to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on Tuesday, Albaniz said he had spoken to Prime Minister Netanyahu last Thursday to inform him of the Australian decision.

“The aid we saw and then the loss of the lives we see about these aid distribution points, as people lose a queue for food and water their lives, is completely unacceptable. We said that,” he said.

“I spoke to Prime Minister Netanyahu. He once again repeated what he said publicly, which should be in a state of denial of the consequences that occur to the innocent.”

Albaniz had said earlier that the decision to recognize a Palestinian state was taken after receiving obligations from the Palestinian Authority (PA), which controls

The move attracted a mixed response in Australia, as the Australian Jews Executive Council described it as “betrayal”, and some Palestinian activists say that it does not go largely.

The leader of the opposition full of right, Susan Lee, said the decision was “respected” to the United States, a major Australian ally.

Earlier this month, a pro -Palestinian protest attracted at least 90,000 supporters who walked through the Sydney Port Bridge, a day after the court’s ruling allowed the demonstration.

Netanyahu said at a press conference during the weekend that he was “shameful” for countries that include Australia to recognize a Palestinian state.

“They know what they will do if, next to Melbourne or next to Sydney, I was subjected to this terrible attack. I think you will do at least what we are doing.”

More than 61,000 people have been killed as a result of the military campaign of Israel since October 7, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health.

Israel launched the attack in response to the Hamas -led attack on October 7, as about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others took hostage.
