Victorious players promised $100,000 cash award and apartment

Nigerian President Paula Tenobo praised the national women’s football producer for his victory in the last African Women’s Nations Cup (Wafcon) at a major festive reception, as he promised them gifts and cash rewards.

They hosted them in ASO ROCK, presidential housing, on Monday, Tinubu announced that each player will get $ 100,000 (75,000 pounds) in addition to an apartment of three bedrooms.

The 24 women team chanted when they heard the news, but there was criticism in the past that the prizes promised by Nigerian governments were not achieved.

Nigerian superconducts – as is well known – the flight attendants were defeated by MROCCO 3-2 on Saturday in an amazing return in the second half, where they won the tenth Wafcon.

Tenobo said victory was a “victory for courage, design and consistency”, adding that at some point “he did not want to watch the match” because of the pressure.

“Today, she returned to the house like Africa.” “We cannot be proud.”

Upon their arrival at the main airport to the capital, Abuja, the team was welcomed by traditional dancers, drummers, journalists and government officials. Then they were taken to presidential residence in a convoy.

Tenobo granted the national honor, the Niger Medal officer, to all players and employees, saying that this is “on behalf of a grateful nation.”

Captain Rashidat Ajibad said that her team’s victory was for “every young girl in our villages, our towns and cities that dare to dream.”

She also showed her vision of Super Falcons to become the best team in the world, but she said that this could only happen with constant support from the Football Association and the government.

The superconducts won 10 out of 13 versions of Wafcon since it started in 1998. The president described the last victory as a “teacher in the history of sport.”

While the players celebrated additional gifts from the president, in the past, both the national football teams for men and women in Nigeria have repeated issues with the authorities for the delay in paying rewards and salaries.

The government only honored its promise for only three decades with new homes for the victorious men team, Super Eagles, which won the 1994 African Nations Cup.

The super hawks participated several times in the protests in sit -in during the main tournaments on wage issues, including after 2023 of the Women’s World Cup.

There were also concerns about the wages of wages, and in recent years, the fans called for pushing them to pay the same as Super Eagles.

Before their final match on Saturday, Tinubu responded to the players’ suits and rewards, including accumulated payments, adding that this usual practice in the future.
