Dhaka crash: ‘My friend died right in front of me’

Farhan Hassan had just ended the exam and left the semester to speak to friends when a Bangladeshi Air Force training plane crashed on the campus of his school – killing at least 27 people.

“The burning plane was hitting the building directly in front of my eyes,” said the college and college student in Bengla.

Hours after the accident, in a populated residential area, huge crowds gathered with people standing over the buildings for a view.

When people ran in all directions, ambulances and volunteers worked to find their way to carry the wounded and many bodies from the school and the Milestone College.

At least 30 ambulances were seen transporting people.

A woman who is seeking information at the scene of the BBC told her that her son called her immediately after the accident, but she has not heard from him since then.

A doctor at the National Institute for Burning and Plastic Surgery said that more than 50 people, including children and adults, were taken to the hospital with Burns.

Many families and relatives of the victims were inside the hospital – including Shah Allam, a boy in the year 8, Tanvir Ahmed, who died in the accident.

Allam said, holding his younger brother – Tanvir’s father – who was unable to speak: “My beloved nephew in the morgue now.”

Most of the victims inside the Burns Hospital are the palace – most of them are between the ages of 9 and 14.

Many other audience members came to the hospital to donate blood; While a number of prominent political party visited the National Party, BNP and Jamaat-E-Slaami.

The Ministry of Health in Bangladesh said that the victims had been accepted in seven hospitals in Dhaka; While the interim government announced on the day of mourning on Tuesday throughout the country, when the national flag is transferred in half of the mast.
