EU chief Ursula von der Leyen survives rare confidence vote

European Commission President Ursula von der Lin survived the confidence vote by an extremist right -wing faction in the European Parliament.

Although the result was not a surprise, the fact that it was not a positive indication of the von der Layen, which started its second term as the chairman of the committee just one year ago.

The sounds of confidence of this type are rare and the last one was shown against Jean -Claude Jonker more than a decade ago.

Two -thirds of all members of 720 European Parliament (MEPS) – or 480 – had to support the proposal to pass it.

Instead, only 175 Voice in favor of; 360 votes against and abstaining 18. For the remaining MEPS absorption not voted.

The vote began by Mep Gheorghe Pipeea Romanian Romanian, who accused Von der Leyen Lack of transparency on the text messages that I sent to Fayzer’s head During negotiations to secure Covid-19 vaccines.

The text of the proposal said that the von der Lin committee can no longer be trusted “to support the principles of transparency, accountability and good judgment of a democratic union.”

During a fierce discussion on Monday, Von der Layen criticized her accused as “conspiracy theorists.”

She retreated to Paiberia and what he called “his world from the alleged plots and plots”, she said that and the face they were “extremists”, “antids” and “Putin’s defenders”.

She also said that the accusations against her about the so -called physics were “just a lie.”

PIPEREA won the support of characters such as the Hungarian Prime Minister VikTor Orban, who posted on X a picture of Von de Der Leyen along with the “Time to Go”.

But the group of European and reformist conservatives (ECR) was divided.

A large part of the ECR is made up by the Italian brothers (FDI), the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni Party. The direct foreign investment of a good relationship with Von Der Leyen and MEPS vote against the proposal has been strengthened.

In the end, the voices came in favor of the nationalist right -wing national groups of Europe (PFE) and Europeans from the sovereign nations (ENS).

Von der Lynne survived the vote thanks to the support of the European People’s Party in the center (EPP), socialism and Democrats (S&D), liberal renewal, vegetables, and left -wing groups.

However, the days before the vote witnessed several warning groups of their support by arresting the leadership of von der Line.

Over the past year, the right EPP in the center has been increasingly cooperated with the extreme right to pass the amendments and decisions on issues such as migration and the environment, and often the annoying liberals and left -wing parties.

Valerie Hayer, president of the Centrist RENEIDED EUROPE team, has echoed the feelings, Von der Lin warned that supporting her group was “not guaranteed” and urged the committee chairman to “restore control” on EPP and end alliances with the extreme right.

Before voting, Iratxe García, leader of S&D, said that the dismantling of the committee in the midst of the geopolitical crisis was “irresponsible”.

“Our vote does not mean that we are not criticizing the European Commission,” Garcia said, noting “the recent transformations by von der Lin towards the right -wing pledges.”

Earlier this week, there was a suggestion that the S&D might refrain from voting, but he was eventually convinced of the support von der Layen after he excluded discounts in social programs in the next budget.

With the vote against its leadership, von der Lin was giving a speech at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.

Soon after the movement’s refusal, it was published on X: “While the external forces seek to destabilize and divide our stability, it is our duty to respond in line with our values.”

“Thank you, and Europe has been living for a long time,” she added.
