Trump threatens Brazil with 50% tariff over Bolsonaro trial

US President Donald Trump said he was planning to impose a 50 % tax on the goods made in Brazil, and his battle escalated with the country of South America.

He announced the plan in his recent introductory message, which participated on social media, accusing Brazilian “attacks” on American technology companies and conducting a “charming chase” against former right -wing President Gere Bolsonaro, who is facing the prosecution over his role in an attempt to cancel the 2022 elections.

Trump had already erupted with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Bolsonaro’s trial earlier this week.

At that time, the president said that if not for Brazil would not accept “intervention” from anyone and added: “No one is above the law.”

Trump has published 22 messages to countries around the world this week, including trading partners such as Japan, South Korea and Sri Lanka, as the new customs tariff shows their goods that he says will enter into force on August 1.

These moves have largely revived the plans he presented in April, but were suspended after financial markets fell in measures.

But Brazil’s message was more targeted and threatened with a significant increase than the 10 % average announced by the White House.
