Chancellor Rachel Reeves is preparing to unveil the review of the government’s spending, a pivotal moment for the work government that will lay the political basis for the upcoming elections.
Reeves will determine the budgets of departments and priorities for the coming years, and it is expected that the defense and health will be spared from tightening Whitehall expenditures that will include some departments facing discounts in real rank.
It will also announce the spruce of spending covered by borrowing on capital projects, including 113 billion pounds of additional money on the current parliament.
This will include allocating 39 billion pounds to homes at “reasonable prices” over 10 years, which the treasury said will represent “the largest batch of investment in social housing at reasonable prices in a generation.”
