New Zealand and Australia were among the first countries to celebrate with fireworks displays at Auckland’s Sky Tower and Sydney’s Harbor Bridge.
Asia soon followed, which saw fireworks displays at Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong and Taipei 101 Tower in Taiwan.
The Middle East has joined in, and despite the overthrow of the Assad regime and uncertainty about its future, Syrians still find time to celebrate.
Europe soon joined the celebrations with colorful fireworks celebrations at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate and the London Eye.
The rest of America welcomed in the New Year with thousands of people at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach and New York’s Times Square for the famous ball drop.
